Astor Place intersects at Lafayette, 8th Street and 3rd Avenue with Broadway a short block to the west. There is a major gateway subway station at Astor Place for Greenwich Village and the East Village. The East Village, Cooper Union, NYU, the New York Public Theater and Washington Square Park are perhaps the most important destinations at this stop.
