In 1958 the Navajo Nation Goverment consulted with residents about the possibility of creating a Park on their land within Monument Valley. Those who agreed did so with the hopes that they would be protected from encroachments of the Gouldings and developments. In 1960 the Visitor Center was dedicated to educate visitors about the newly opened Navajo Nation Monument Valley Tribal Park.We travelled the 17 mile dirt road through the Valley, capturing pix of so many rock formations. Interesting and unique rock formations exist outside the offical park also.
