Agathla Peak, a striking volcanic plug, rising 1500 feet above its mesa domain. Also known as "El Capitan" in Monument Valley, AZ. The Navajos call this structure Aghaa'la, or "Much Wool" or "Piles of Wool" because many years ago the Indians scraped deer and sheep hides on the rough rocks at the base of the peak, leaving an accumulation of hair or wool there.
