A Wrinkle in the Earth --Capitol Reef National Park

A landscape of cliffs and canyons, arches and bridges, slick rock and petroglyphs, and orchards — all within a massive 100 mile-long rock reef, known as the Waterpocket Fold (also identified as a "wrinkle" in the earth's surface). "Capitol Reef was named for a line of white domes and cliffs of Navajo Sandstone, each of which looks somewhat like the United States Capitol building. The local word reef referred to any rocky barrier to travel" (the Waterpocket Fold).
