We live about 30 miles(48km) east of Portland,Oregon USA. It had been a rainy day with terrible light, but driving home at 10:00 at night I see the lights of the city shining on the departing clouds and an opening in them showing the Big Dipper. I tried several different settings and liked this one best. Higher ISO's showed more stars but they detracted from the brighter stars of the Big Dipper. This was setting my camera on a neighbors fence post with my bible and a coffee cup lid positioned to hold the lens at the right angle....of course no tripod with me.
