Dying Cottonwoods of SE Wyoming

Vast areas around Wheatland Wyoming USA are losing their old Cottonwoods. The reasons are unclear at best, but a few years of drought and increased circle farming have dropped the water table and many suspect this is the reason. It's very sad. I photographed these same trees a couple of years ago before their bark sloughed off. Now they are merely skeletons gradually falling down piece by piece.

I love this shot...the starkness adds beauty in this case. It's sad to see the trees die. -Voted-
