Old Ent has new friend

Ely / Cambridgeshire - An amazing frienship has evolved between a well-known Ely Ent and a pony. The Ely Daily Star has the first photos to show the developing romance! The old Ent in the cathedral park is well-known to the locals for his fits of bad temper. When provoked it swirls it long branches around, scaring off little children and tourists who hold him for a tree.
The ent is fittingly known as 'Old Gnarl' to locals but now 4-year old pony Sally has mellowed his mood it seems.
Local photographer Hiddemans reports. "Old Gnarl is actually very difficult to photograph because you never know when he will hit you. I've been through scary moments and never really got a good picture of him. Before I've finished fiddling with my Olympus c770 camera a branch moves my way." We can now understand why there are so few pictures of Old Gnarl. He continues: "But that has all changed since Sally came in the paddock. They really seem to be comfortable together. I was lucky to capture some very special intimate moments between the two."
"Old Gnarl is like a different being now, much less violent" Hiddemans adds. Here the Ely Daily Star's shows you exclusive pictures of the developing romance between Old Gnarl and Sally.
We hope that many tourists and photographers will come to our pretty town to witness this unique friendship and to take photos without fear for their lives ;-)
