The city, 3850 m above sea level, is located at the shores of Lake Titicaca. Each year, at the beginning of February, Puno celebrates the "Fiesta de la virgen de Candelaria". Hundreds of folkloristic groups are dancing in the streets from 7 AM to midnight - and this for two weeks in a row.
