This is a fairly famous place on the Kotli-Rawalpindi road. The bridge in the foreground was built by Western engineers.
Do you know where this place is? When was the bridge built?
Answer: Of course this is Gulpur. Throtchi Fort can be seen in the background (top middle).
The bridge was designed and built by Western engineers in 1968-70. Prior to the bridge there
used to be a pulley crossing for people and goods but was not the safest mode of travel
across the river Poonch. The author, as a child, and his family used to cross the river
further up the river (bottom left of pic) where a boatman used to ply his trade. He was cheap,
safe and could transport 6-7 people across at a time.
