We saw pictures of glaciers, but for the most part, Iceland is one monster volcano, where mile after mile of jagged rock pokes at the sky,as if asking for redemption. Then, abruptly, the lava gives way to lush rolling pastures and clean cold streams. Iceland is horse country, with more horses than people. The cost of living is high; everything has to be shipped in.
