Charles Mingus Orchestra with Gunther Schuller at Tanglewood 2011

This group is the Mingus Band augmented with harp and flute and an extra sax. They played Gunther Schullers arrangement of four movements from Mingus' "Epitaph", which was discovered by Schuller following Mingus' death. Schuller In addition Schuller was introduced by Mingus' widow, and the band played some of his well-known (to Mingus fans) songs. The ending was killer, with the seven horns standing up and one-by-one forming a street band at the front of the stage, with the piece being played morphing into Mingus' "Mingus Ah Um"! A truly memorable, one-of-a-kind performance.

I'll be adding photos to this folder in the near term, as time permits me to sort and post-produce them.
