Many know the town of Hadley, MA in West Central Massachusetts only as a strip of commerce between Norhampton MA and Amherst MA, home to Amherst College and the University of Massachusetts. However, the town sits mostly on the rich bottomland deposited by eons of Conecticut River flooding, and as such, it is home to many truckfarms. One of which is featured here.
South Hadley is a separate town, not surprisingly south of Hadley, and is much different in character. South Hadley is home to Mount Holyoke College and has for years been a prosperous suburb of the cities of Holyoke and Springfield to its south. As a result, it has a markedly less rural character than the Town of Hadley.
Both these towns have their share of older New England buildings, as shown here. And they are river towns (sitting on the east bank of the Connecticut River,) so they also have their share of boating.
