D50 vs D300 as general purpose camera

A test of walkaround picture quality of these two bodies, taking identical shots, and modified as little as possibility. D50 set at low sharpening; D300 set a +5 shapening; both finished at TIFF stage with 10-5-0 "edge sharpening" in DX2, and then final-print-sharpened (automatically) by Photo Mechanic in converting to pbase-sized JPEGs.

A previous comparison with the D50 set at "normal" sharpening made the photos come out too sharp. Based on this setting (a little soft) a moderately-low setting in the D50 would probably be best to equate workflow results with the D300 (my standard).
