Going, Going, Gone Sunset at Huntington Beach CA 1983
My travels to Orange County California always included a drive down PCH to Laguna Beach to look at the art for sale and a late afternoon meal at Las Brisas, previously named Victor Hugo's, and before that it was part of the Fred Harvey chain. (Yes, the waitresses wore the same pinafores as in the movie). What did not change is the beautiful view of Laguna Bay and the Pacific ocean. Then back up to Huntington Beach for a drink at Maxwell's by the pier. I photographed these images in Feruary 1983 on color slide film (brand unknown). The next month, March 1983, a bad storm destroyed much the center portion as well as the end of the pier, including the End Cafe (seen on these slides). It was repaired and destroyed again. Finally in 1992, a fourth pier was built which still stands (I believe.)
