INFRARED EXPERIMENTS

I loaded these experimental images with the hope that more experienced IR photographers might take a look and give me a little advice on improving the shortcomings which abound. I was confined to views from my back door and front door, so the subject matter leaves something to be desired.

All images were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 5400 equiped with an adapter and IR filter 720 52mm. Images DSCN1937.jpg through DSCN1944.jpg were taken at about 10:30am this morning (8/25). Images DSCN1919 through DSCN1936 were taken about 2:30pm yesteday (8/24). I suppose that the difference in color temperature at these two times of day accounts for the difference in final hue. I plan to make more images later on in the afternoon and evening to verify this.

Several of the images look like they were taken through a telescope. The filter adapter for my Nikion consists of a tube aout 1-1/2 inch long with the filter mounted in thefront. The tube allows the Nikon lense to travel back and forth as it goes from wide angle to telephoto mode. At wide angle, you see the sides of the filter tube. I must adjust the lense to go forward enough to allow for a full frame picture, without letting it go all of the way to full telephoto, since it would bump into the filter and probably scratch things up. I rather like the look of the round images though.
