In 1798 this site with watermills was bought by a consortium for 410,000 francs from the Munster Abby and the Monastery of the Carthusian Order.
They started to renovate the old and abandoned mills in 1801. In 1807 the paper mill Burghoff, Magnée & Co was build at the site.
In 1838 they expand by buying some neighbouring textile factories.
In 1908 the paper factory stopped its production and the site was sold to the "N.V. Het Steel" that started factory for potato products.
In 1920 they build a hydro-electric power station.
After the factory went bankrupt, N.V. Noury en Van der Lande bought the site in 1926 and started ECI, the Electro Chemical Industry. ECI made persulfates for soap and food industries.
ECI stopped in 1974 and was left abandoned again.
But the buildings survived till this day, and now some of the buildings have been restaured and now in use as offices, but not all......
