Joop's Dog Log - Thursday June 24

Big winds in my town today: a Summer storm.
Last night we had another storm, at the Euro Championship in Portugal:
the Dutch national soccer team beat Lathvia, and the Czech Republic beat Germany.
That means we are in the next round after all,
the Dutch soccer humans go to the quarter finals!
So the parties and the orange flags will return.
I feel like a snake in the grass,
hiding from the wind and the crazy soccer fans...

Goedemorgen Joop. Tot morgen weer he doeiiiiiiii.

Stocktaking break....Joop, you look so young and tender in this green hide-away...you need not hide from your Dutch people, all Dutch humans I know are friendly, full of dry humor...my nice young Dutch physiotherapist was singing while working my back..we heard Diana Ross ` baby love and the thunder was roaring, a hard rain fell....nothing crazy or loud....what a peaceful scenery...do you really think they will go crazy in Portugal?

You are well hidden indeed!!! No one will be able to see you and run after you with their big orange flags... Did you find any ant around there for me to chase? au au au, Nicki & Elô

Peek a boo Joop! The grass is LONG here too, and there are crazy soccer fans around here this week as well. Hope they don`t think you`re the ball Joop :-)

Hahaha! gundog is funny. :-D I like to go crashing through the grass too, Joopster! You can find many interesting "things" in there, "things" that humans can`t smell or hear, "things" that humans can`t catch, "things" that humans can`t see you eat.... :-)))
Congratulations on your football team! Keep us posted...It`s always high drama over there, isn`t it! -Sarah.

Strange, but even though kids play soccer here, the professional type has really never caught on. Every other sport is an obsession with Americans, but not soccer. I wonder why. You sure can hide in that tall grass, Joop. I wonder if your human can always find you. I think you are playing hide and seek with him...look at that grin on your cute face.

I bet Joop plays good soccer! My one bulldog, Heffala Humphrey, is a soccer pro. Soccer is catching on more in the U.S. and I am so glad! It is a great sport. Joop, you always look so handsome...and you could be in the movies. Have you ever rented MY DOG SKIP? A Jack Russell Terrier is awesome in the movie...but it brings a lot of tears.

do you have snakes over there? be careful, joop. we teach kids here not to play in long grass, and to make lots of noise to warn the sleeping snakes if they *must go through. it`s an annoying job to mow the acres of grass around my parents` house in summer but it has to be done. of course not all of our snakes are lethal, some are even friendly in their way - but it`s best to be sure.
as for soccer fans ... i won`t start ; ) but congratulations to the dutch soccer team.

Joop, i have been following your diary for over a month and i think your pictures and your daily notes are fanastic. Tell your human that you want to make more friends and let him put everything in a book. Well, think about this while you are in Norway.

Nearly lost in the grass - still a puppy!
