Joop's Dog Log - Monday May 17

Doing the dog thing.
OK, so we were on our Sunday hike, my humans and I, into the Groningen northlands,
between Grootegast and Lutjegast (that`s the village were Abel Tasman was born,
the navigator human who discovered Tasmania, New Zealand, in 1603).
Anyway, all of a sudden I heard something on the right side of the path.
Maybe a rat. Maybe a mouse. Maybe a bird.
I jumped right into the cow parsley, but it was much deeper than I thought,
there was kind of a ditch there, and I went all the way in.
My humans laughed and laughed, and took this photo before they pulled me back on the path.
Very embarrassing. I didn`t catch anything either.
I kept quiet for a while, but then they gave me a cookie and told me I was a funny dog.
Hey, what do they know.
This was a hunting accident, okay?

Goedemorgen Joop.

Moin Joop! Well, sometime sh...happens, but if you haven`t told we would have thought that you just wanted to check this blooming hideway...and -by the way...- it does look as if it was made for you! Only the shadows in front tell another version....good to hear that your humans are addicted to this boring asparagus too, Bosse tasted the raw material and the humans started to cry...this white stuff is not cheap when the sun doesn`t shine! Have we ever told you that Pelle had a similar "hunting accident" when he was a pup? That one was really dramatic, because he fell into the Elbe-Lübeck-Chanel in wintertime and bosslady had big problems to get him out again without falling in herself..never ever ran that fast gain back home...have a nice week: we are on Güsterfield-holidays now....

LOL! Sorry Joop but it`s so funny! You know: "Wer den Schaden hat, braucht für Spott nicht zu sorgen." If your humans will ever fall into swamp I know you will not laugh about them but help them immediately. That`s the difference. :) Hardy & the K-pack

Hahaha... Poor buddy... Yeah well, hunting accidents happen. Even some male men have them, hunting for... women. ;o) Then males also stumble into a ditch that the evil woman has dug right in front of her. And that can be equally embarrassing so I feel for you.

Oh, rats, Joop, I too hate those moments where ones dignity is lower than foot level. Unfortunate feeling indeed! Of course, one does know that the laughter such activities engender is the sort that comes from love and not cruelty. I mean, if yr human took a header, assuming he was okay, you`d likely laugh too, right? Slap stick is well, it`s funny, is what it is. Whole generations of comedians have made it their bread and butter. Might as well take advantage, I say, especially when the reward has a bacon ingredient. Gee, bet you got some scritchies too, eh? Not half bad, old boy, I`ll say!

This is so gorgeous! You have brightened all our Mondays. Yes, Joop, I love your political insights, but I also love it when you are "just" a dog.

"Joop, Luciana says I´m a funny dog too. She laughs when I eat her socks. She thinks I do that because I´m being silly. She doesn´t understand that´s part of my dog vocation: defending the territory and attacking the enemy. Anyway, sometimes Luciana´s behaviour seems awkward to me. But I shall NEVER understand why this Abel Tasman, who had plenty of cow parsley around him, went took his ship into the WATER just to discover Tasmania! Oh, Boy! Dogs are definetely so different from humans!" Flô

Oh Joop, your humans caught you in an embarrassing moment, but that`s ok, cause you`re a dog, and you`ll forgive them right? You do look gorgeous in those flowers. Hope you`re all recovered.

funny pic and nice story - actually rumour has it that NZ was discovered by others - and had been inhabited by NZ'ers for 600 years before mr Tasman - and since they came and before Mr Tasman, Moors, Portugese and so on.
