Crooked street

San Francisco, Calif.

The one-block section of San Francisco's Lombard Street between Hyde and Leavenworth streets
is known as the crookedest street in the world. The street, which runs down a steep section of
Russian Hill, has eight hairpin (or switchback) turns in less than a quarter of a mile.
