Queenie attacked by a pit bull

Queenie was attacked by an off-leash pit bull in the park Saturday morning. The owner, whom nobody knows but who comes to the park often, was in the park but not paying any attention to what the dog was doing, and Tim says the pit bull wrestled Queenie to the ground. He thought she was OK, but when we were at the vet for a routine visit a few hours later, I noticed that some white fur on her face was pink. The vet said she had a puncture wound that doesn’t require stitches but does call for antibiotic and anti-inflammatory drugs.

Andrew has gotten into fights with this guy in the past for letting his dog run wild and actually has some pictures of him. I’m going to call the District’s animal control as well as the US Park Police to report the attack, but Andrew thinks he’s some kind of law enforcement officer and that as a result, nobody will stop him from endangering other people’s dogs.

Good grief. How scary is that. You can't reason with a pit bull or its owner it seems. Hope you get some results of your reporting though.

She will recover! She is a strong girl. Nice shot too. V!

This evokes strong and mixed emotions. I am sad and sorry for Queenie, and incensed at the owner of the pit bull. One option is to hand a copy of your vet bill to the irresponsible owner and demand payment. (I did that years ago when one of my dogs was attacked.) I hope Queenie heals quickly and does not have any PTSD.

What a terrible story. I hope your sweet dog recovers quickly! V

I’m so sorry that happened. It looks so close to her eye. I hope Animal Control does something despite the owner being a cop. People need to keep their pits on leashes.

Dangerous dogs, neither leashed nor muzzled by their owners. Let's hope Queenie wasn't traumatized by the attack and that she recovers quickly.

I hope you are able to get something done so that everyone ,will be safe in the future.

Poor Queenie. The dog owner should pay more attention to his dog and control it. Good for you to report it.

A sad commentary on this kind of thing, this has to stop. Glad Queenie is OK. V

This serves as a reminder of how a moment of inattention is all it takes for an unexpected encounter to end in injury...V

Pauvre Queenie, j'espère que cette attaque ne la traumatise pas. V

That is so sad. Magpie's head was grabbed by a Pit Bull last summer, she had a couple of puncture wounds. It took two men to get the Pit Bull to let go of her head.

Oh that's terrible! I'm glad it wasn't worse. Some people suck. Unfortunately, there seem to be more and more these days.

Wow, what a story, I so hope that Queenie is ok, she'll be traumatized by that attack, poor baby, she'll need love and reassurance now, and goodies too! As in any crowds, there's always an asshole that differs from the rest.

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear this and glad that Queenie wasn't nore seriously hurt, though it must have been traumatic for both her and TIm. You should definitely report this guy regardless of who he is.
