Cleaning out the algae from the Reflecting Pool

Trump recently had the iconic Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool painted “American flag blue” as part of America 250 celebrations, but within days algae began to proliferate in the water. It may look blue in this shot, but I can confirm that it’s now green, as the next picture will show. In addition, some of the paint has already chipped off the bottom of the pool, with chunks of it floating here and there.

DC is in the process of getting ready for the semiquincentennial of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026. This will be a gallery of various sights around the District as preparations are underway. It's fun to see everything that's going on, but I doubt we’ll attend the actual celebrations on the 4th — too hard to get to, too crowded, too much of a political event.

I read this evening that President Trump is blaming all the issues with the reflecting pool on vandalism. Once again not his fault. V

$14 million US + so far, Why didn't just dye the water blue! We have a basin and fountain here and we add colorant to the water from time to time, you can turn the water any color and it works. I don't think it would cost millions to dye the water!

A waste of money. Almost all politicians are useless, but how this shyster ever got elected says a lot about the lack of education in this country.
