Deteriorating trees in Lincoln Park

This huge branch broke off an old magnolia tree in Lincoln Park, one of many trees there that are deteriorating due to a lack of proper care and abuse by visitors. Luckily nobody was injured, but a woman out walking her dog was killed by a falling branch a few years ago in another Federal park on Capitol Hill. Some trees have been removed at various times, and a private company recently raised funds to plant 250 new trees in Federal parks around the city, including Lincoln Park.

The scene speaks quietly of nature enduring strain - the fallen branch, though dramatic, is fortunate in its timing with no one getting hurt....V

It's sad that they suffer from neglect and visitor abuse.

I remember seeing a photo of a down lamp post too. It could be very dangerous to the park visitors including humans and pets. Anyway, great capture taken from this angle showing the rotten inside of the tree. ~VVVVV~
