My last drive-by shot taken at the Tidal Basin, where Washington’s famous cherry trees, a gift of friendship from Japan in 1912, will reach peak bloom any day now. The path around the basin will be packed with visitors this weekend, traffic will be gridlocked and parking impossible, so I doubt we’ll go back, at least not right now. We used to go every year and see the cherry blossoms up close and personal, but unfortunately the very long walk to actually get there is difficult for me these days, so we’ll just continue to enjoy them from the car.
