Lesson learned: To see the heron, don’t bring a camera!

This is the second time recently that we’ve stopped at Constitution Gardens on the National Mall-- without our cameras -- and the great blue heron was there. (Whenever we go prepared, he’s MIA.) Queenie has been angling for a car ride, so we took her there after walking around the Capitol grounds. She enjoyed it, but I was kicking myself for being so unprepared.

He was pretty far away, and my phone pictures aren’t big enough to crop a lot, but the heron is at left just in front of the grass.

Isn't that always the case...only when you don't have your good camera, something interesting pops up. V

A nice well composed image in spite of not being ready for the Heron Helen, Happens to the best of photographers. Perhaps keep an older camera and lens in the car at all times.
