We took Queenie home from the Humane Rescue Alliance for a “test drive,” which allows you to foster a dog for a week to see if it’s a good fit. She seems very sweet and well behaved with us, although we don’t yet know how she’ll interact with other dogs (we have to be cautious about that judging by her history). She was picked up three times by the shelter for running loose with her buddy, Bunny, and the third time the shelter declined to return her. Bunny was recently adopted, and Queenie was left alone, so we decided we’d get her out of there, hopefully to her forever home. She’s 8 years old, 63 pounds (needs to lose some weight!) and some kind of shepherd mix. HRA had called her "Queen," which didn't sound good to us, although we don't know if that was her name in her previous life, so we figured Queenie would be OK (and she comes to it, too).
