The leaning supports of Washington

This was taken in the basement parking garage of our supermarket. The first time I saw all the leaning supports (and there are quite a few of them) I thought for sure the building would collapse, but Tim saw even more precipitously leaning supports in another parking garage recently, so maybe this is normal for construction these days? I had never seen such a thing in any garage until I saw them in this building.

Safe, for now, posted earlier:

Could be some kind of iconic design?

That looks scary….like if it is bumped into, the ceiling would collapse. V

Strange indeed, though it would seem deliberate - unless someone goofed on the measurements and they had to adjust for that in construction. :-)

Hope the builders knew what they were doing. V

Hummmmm...that's a bit disconcerting.

That's a lot scary looking! I wonder if there is a reason they do that. A well seen documentary shot. V

Makes me worry a bit!
Great eye to spot this, Helen!

Intended or not, I wouldn't walk there!
Carl Carbone09-May-2023 15:48
As long as the ones opposite are leaning back towards these!
marie-jose wolff09-May-2023 14:57
interesting, all these intersecting lines
carabias09-May-2023 13:21
That seems to be done on purpose! It's fun, but it's scary. V

Wow! These look like they are leaning on purpose. I wonder how many people notice and panic. They should have a note reassuring people that this is part of the design - at least I assume it is!

The title of the image and image itself make a great analogy for the current political debates and division in our country. Not a reassuring situation nor place to park your car. The do not enter sign might be good advice. V

I see no reason why the pillars need to lean at an angle....unusual and nicely captured.....V
Richard Chu09-May-2023 10:00
Very unusual scene very well captured! V

I had never seen this around here...V
