We stopped at Stanton Park, five blocks from home, to see its beautiful cherry trees. It was perfect weather, sunny and warm albeit pretty windy, for cherry blossom viewing.
We considered for an instant trying to go down to the Tidal Basin and Jefferson Memorial for Washington’s iconic Yoshino cherry blossom display, but we heard traffic was so heavy that people were literally abandoning their cars in the middle of Ohio Drive SW to go take pictures and that it took hours to make the very short trip along the basin. We opted instead for Stanton Park and an area just north of the US Capitol for some shots.
I heard on the news Sunday evening that tens of thousands of people visited the Tidal Basin during the day. I'm sure glad we didn't go.
