Suzy heading out to her park

Directly across from our driveway was Collins Park, a huge area that Suzy had pretty much to herself. I now realize what a luxury that was for a dog who needs lots of exercise (and for us)!

*****

While living in Canberra, we adopted a puppy from a neighbor and named her Suzy. She was half Blue Heeler (Australian cattle dog) and half Border Collie. Suzy lived with us in Washington and Tokyo as well, but we entrusted her to Tim’s mother when we moved to Ankara since she was getting on in years and we had been warned that adequate veterinary services were sorely lacking in Turkey, especially for older dogs. Tim last saw Suzy in Oregon in 2000, shortly before she passed away at the age of 15.

I hope she always stopped and waited before she crossed the road. Her combination of breeds is smart enough to learn that! V
