Kookaburra at the US Embassy in Canberra

This was where Tim worked; oddly enough I can’t find any pictures of the veterinary surgery where I worked while doing a degree at the ANU.

*****

After coming across a long-lost Turkish colleague now living in Australia, I decided to take a look at my pictures from the years we lived in Canberra -- 1985-87 -- our first overseas posting with the State Department. We enjoyed our time there, both living in the capitol city, where I did a BA at the Australian National University and also worked for a local vet, and traveling around the country.

We know that embassy so well from our visits to Canberra, and always remark on how very American the architecture is. Nice to think of you there!

The architecture reminds me of Virginia. I like how the bird is keeping watch. V

Terrific to have a photo of this iconic Australian bird to set the place for Tim’s work place.

The Kookaburra is keeping a good eye on proceedings.

What interesting experiences you've had, including living in Australia. This has a vintage look to it, and the Kookaburra definitely locates it to country! V
