‘Living Timeline: Paul Robeson’ (1)

This is the first half of a mural we came across on the Hung Tao Choy Mei Leadership Institute, a martial arts academy building on U St. NW. It was too long to capture well in one picture, so I’ll post the second half later.

Paul Robeson (1898-1976) was an athlete, singer, actor, Broadway star and a notable leader in the early part of the Civil Rights movement. The mural features two portraits of him with smaller depictions of him at different stages of his life. The mural also has an interactive component whereby visitors can scan a photo of the mural into an app on their phone, gaining access to Robeson’s music and information about him.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly unsharp.
