Inexplicable damage

I can’t even begin to imagine how this garden fence got knocked over. It’s on a broad sidewalk, bordered by a treebox surrounded by a small metal barrier (bottom left), which is on a curb and presumably has a tree in it (although I’m not sure about the tree part). It looks like a car would have had to somehow drive over the curb, through the treebox and its little fence, across the sidewalk and into the fence. Fences on corners often get hit by cars, but I’ve never seen anything like this around here before.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly unsharp.

One wonders about the damaged fencing but my eye finds the surrounding elements - trees, flag, etc - of equal interest. A fine composition.

Interesting....so many possibilities, and some lead to darker thoughts of a mob.

It's a shame regardless of how it happened. You would think the driver would have stepped up after the accident. Nice photojournalism, Helen. BV

It's a mystery, but I vote for car damage.

I agree with Carl, looks like Elephant damage!

Seems like someone would have some home security footage to solve the mystery.

It definitely appears to be a large vehicle….like a truck. I hope it can be easily fixed.

How unfortunate. Maybe some kind of utility truck... interesting the red marks on the sidewalk.

The geometry of the damage is really a puzzle.
. You have a keen eye to get the shot!
I hope no one was hurt.

Indeed looks like a car damage, well seen and well captured. V

The noise when it happened would have been scary for the owners. Lucky the fences stopped more damage.

How scary for the homeowner.

Sure looks like car damage, or maybe an elephant?
