I was out early yesterday evening photographing our daffodils when suddenly there was a flurry of activity in the immediate area – several grackles and mourning doves next door; a starling high up in a tree; sparrows, grackles and a squirrel at a feeder a few houses down; and last but not least, Mr. Cardinal sitting on fence across the entry to the alley. I got off a few shots (with part of an iron fence in the way, unfortunately), but when I tried to get closer, he took off, as I expected he would. It was an exciting half hour, and now I know the perfect time to go out and see who’s around.
