Dragonfly shadows

For some reason there weren’t as many dragonflies in the gardens as on our first visit this year. Maybe they prefer the hot, humid afternoon hours, whereas the lotus flowers close up then.

*****

We’ve now been to the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens twice in the past month after keeping away during the worst (or the previous worst) of the pandemic. In addition to them being stunningly beautiful, it’s nice to see so many people there enjoying nature.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by PBase are decidedly
unsharp.

You got some great details. I have them bussing all over my yard and I can't get them to hold still for a photo. V

Love how it resembles a large aircraft ready to take off.

always fascinating creatures...the body is the colour of a blueberry...a dragonfly would not worry about the lotus, as it's flying insects it preys upon..

A very lovely capture. I think it's a skimmer species
