This famous DC mural was originally painted on a different building in 1997 but was moved to the True Reformer building when new construction blocked the view of it. It was removed for restoration in 2012 and was replicated seven years later by the artist on its second home, in the auditorium of which Ellington played his first paid performance.
I had read that the mural was no longer extant so was surprised to catch sight of it on U Street NW when we were out searching for cherry blossom sculptures.
Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.
