I really liked this cherry blossom sculpture with all the bees and a good idea behind it despite the mundane setting.

Says the artist: “My design is based on observing organic geometries. I wished to depict a step in a bloom’s life that goes beyond it’s short pink burst; their natural visitor, bees. For years, bees have faced severe colony collapse. We depend on them not just for honey, but for pollination. I want to show the need to respect them. Bees are beautiful, industrious, and worth noticing among the cherry trees. As the combs move outward from the center of the bloom, they spread out and grow in size. Bees grow from within them and rest over them, before they fly out.”

This is the time of year for Washington’s wildly popular Cherry Blossom Festival, but unfortunately it has once again been canceled due to the pandemic. The public has been asked not to enjoy the blossoms at the Tidal Basin but instead to view “Art in Bloom,” 26 cherry blossom sculptures painted by local artists and placed in locations throughout DC and adjacent neighborhoods.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.
