Even this is a memory now

This was taken a few days after the insurrection at the US Capitol. Now, Constitution Avenue, the street from which this was shot, is closed to all traffic, and we’ve lost our most direct route home. Below is a picture taken a few years ago – from the same street but a bit further down the hill – showing what the grounds used to look like. I fear the freedom to enjoy them could be gone forever.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

I think these will still be picked up in time, and you guys will get the city back, but it will still be some waiting. and then these become images for the archive and the grandchildren nice work Helen BV

Nice partial view of the Capital Dome no comment on the black fence I think you know how most feel about it.
Hope all is peaceful in the next few weeks .

A sad scene but well taken with the dome between the branches. V

Hopefully with the uplifting cherry tree blooms this incident will be truly buried in the past.

it's sad to see the Capitol partly hidden by these fences !
John Hamers09-Feb-2021 10:46
Hopefully these fences don't have a permanent character and the capitol will be accessible on shorter distance in the future. !!V

I would expect this in some other countries but never thought I would see this in the USA

This is just so sad !! Great that you're capturing it - don't see this on the news. V

Not the same, is this "the new normal?" The new most hated words in our vocabulary.

Makes me think of the words of that old song: "You don't miss your water until your well runs dry." Sad to see. V

How sad to see the two photos and the fence looks so permanent in the recent one.

Two interesting images with the contrasting views. Sometimes these obstructions become permanent, but in time this one may vanish. I hope so. V

so sad to see you have restricted access to so many points there.V.
