Lookout

I don’t know if this Capitol Police officer is a sharpshooter or what, but I can’t ever remember seeing law enforcement posted on the Capitol like this. And this was taken on Sunday, before 15,000 National Guard members were deployed around the building, soon to be 25,000 prior to Inauguration Day on Jan. 20.

*****

We went down to the Capitol today because I wanted a picture of it through the huge fence that's been erected all around it. I did get a few of those on drive-by, but then we decided to park the car and see what was going on there because the road in front of it was literally packed with police officers and vehicles. It turned out that the Capitol Police were there in force to attend the funeral procession of USCP Officer Brian Sicknick, who died of injuries sustained during the seditious attack on the US Capitol on January 6 after he was reportedly hit in the head with a fire extinguisher. His death was a tragedy, and I'm glad we were there to pay our respects as his hearse passed by.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

The portion of the Capitol stands on its own as fine detail which, for me was unknown and is striking. "VV"

If this is what it takes, then so be it, but it really sucks that we have descended so far in just 4 years.

I wonder how long they'll have to leave it that way. :( V

Great capture, Helen. Let’s hope that kind behavior is over.
