Saga of the Emancipation Memorial continues

A car smashed into the memorial in our park this morning before 6 a.m. The car had flipped on its side. The two people in the vehicle were taken to the hospital after one of them was extracted from the wreck by the fire department. Police are trying to determine if this was deliberate, although I can’t understand why anybody in their right mind would intentionally crash head-on into the stone equivalent of a huge tree, which is usually fatal.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.

Hopefully they are ok and it was accidental. However who knows nowadays if it was an accident. V

Wow, that's a nasty crash. They must have been going really fast.

Some people haven't been in their right mind lately. Great documentation of the scene.

A good docu- photo of a disturbing scene. The cause is hard to fathom either way but if intentional I'd venture to say the driver was not in his or her "right mind".

Maybe some just crave attention, and that's most important.

Oh dear, hope they are OK. It scared me at first when I saw it was a Bimmer...good it wasn't your new one. V

A serious crash.

My guess is attention-making intentionality...

A sad find, who knows why they crashed

bizarre...still some people just aren't suited to driving cars...

An accident or deliberate? Both alternatives seem unlikely. But there it is.
