We came across this fantastic mural in the parking lot of McDonald's at 75 New York Avenue NE. It was created by Stom500 of Strasbourg for the Pow! Wow! DC mural festival 2019. After much searching, I found this description of the mural, edited by me as it was in pretty poor English (and I still don't understand all of it).
In May 2019, Stom500 was invited to participate in the Pow Wow international street art festival in Washington, DC.
Pow! Wow! is one of the most renowned mural festivals in the world, a real achievement for this French muralist and street artist.
In this "Blue Bird" edition, the artist plays with his totem animal, the bee, having it escort "blue birds," in a reference to the American president, who is skilled in the use of Twitter.
The little "aviator" helmets worn by the birds reinforce this "messenger" aspect. One of them is a panda, which the artist sometimes hides inside his compositions.
Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly
unsharp.
