Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge

Bridge near The Yards going across the Anacostia River, built in 1950. I’ve never really noticed it before.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

The beginnings of fall on Capitol Hill, posted earlier:

Very interesting bridge. Those somewhat slack cables on top are a mystery to me. I'd have to brush up on my calculus to figure out their purpose, but that's not likely to happen.

Seems to be serious work going on. It's a great mix of utilitarian and artistic design. It is nice to have caught the sailboat in the photo.

Interesting looking bridge. Nice shot! Reminds me that although I am very familiar with the bridges over the Potomac, there are other noteworthy bridges in the DC area that I have no clue about! I wonder if we are actually looking at two bridges in this picture.

It's an interesting looking bridge. Nice that you caught the sailboat going by. Looks like they had some nice wind. V
