Pandemic fallout

This is a fountain in The Yards where kids could get out of the summer heat, but it’s closed down now due to the pandemic. The enormous condo building in the background used to be a big lot where we parked our car. Just one more indication of the out-of-control development in this area.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Me and my reflection, posted earlier:

the pandemic has not brought much good for the people, and that is further encouraged by the fact that they are building up everything everywhere and we get a closed feeling, so that we can find little inner peace, you are making good image of Helen with a nice explanation about the area, hopefully everything will be back in order as before BV

Very sad to see. I can’t wait to things get back to normal (it may never). I hope the building boom doesn’t ruin historic neighborhoods. V

Seems like the opening of a Stephen King film where something has gone horribly wrong.
Kind of like 2020 reality!

The pandemic sure affects young and old. Too bad for the kids that the fountains are off/closed.

Some of those look very expensive. Still after living in city's I really enjoy our small seaside town.

There are so many effects, large and small, from this pandemic. This image communicates a sense of loss.

pity abut the fountains as kids might have needed some fun and relief all the more this crazy year...strong POV to ante up a sense of engagement here..

Sad to see the pool drained, but absolutely understand the need. Sure like all those windows in the condo.

very nice composition. Wonder if the whole building is inhabited....V.

Sad the kids couldn't get wet and also sad the new building dwarfs the surroundings.

It's called progress!
