Blue butterfly

Admittedly not a great capture of this tiny butterfly, but it was the only one I was able to get, and it was just so pretty, I decided to post it anyway. Tim got a shot of the interior of its wings, which are black. Thanks to Isabel for the ID -- Eastern Tailed Blue.

*****

Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, located in northeast Washington, D.C., has an annual lotus and water lily festival in summer, but unfortunately the National Park Service couldn't hold it this year due to the pandemic. Luckily they reopened the gardens a few weeks ago, so visitors were at least able to see the beautiful display. They set up one-way signs on the paths through the ponds to allow for social distancing, and I'd say at least 90 percent of the visitors were wearing face coverings.

Lovely capture. Google Lens tells me that this is an Eastern Tailed Blue and the plant is prunella vulgaris or Self Heal. I love Google Lens. It is always correct, but it often is!
