Outdoor chapel

We came across this outdoor chapel while walking around the “valley” on the monastery grounds. The sign, which I was finally able to read in the original photo, says "Grotto of Lourdes."

*****

We went back to the Franciscan Monastery in NE Washington because last year there had been lots of butterflies in their garden, and quite frankly, because we couldn’t go anywhere else due to street closures everywhere for protests and other major gardens still being closed on account of the pandemic.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Chipmunk and a few hitchhikers, posted earlier:

An interesting take on the Lourdes grotto - too bad they don't have some of the vegetation on the walls of the original.

PS: When someone tried to kill John Paul II, the bullet that got stuck in his hand is now part of the crown on the Virgin's statue since he attributed his life saving to the Holy Virgin.

It actually reminds me of Fatima in Lourdes (France), where the Holy Virgin supposedly appeared to three young girls and told them three secrets, the last one is still up to speculation but it seems to centered around who the last Pope will be and then ... all hell is to break loose!

seems like a grotto serving as a place of worship for the devout...wise framing to include the Mary statue which underscores the old story made famous at Lourdes..
