New residents of Lincoln Park

Taken at 6 in the morning and not a great shot, but I was amazed to hear there was a mallard couple in Lincoln Park. There’s no pool or fountain there, so maybe they’re lost. Tim saw the female in the park yesterday, too, when a dog chased her, but he's old and arthritic and she managed to get away.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Gold accents, posted earlier:

Great warm light. They do seem out of place, but they probably enjoy the absence of people. V

Mallards are protected under Federal Law (Migratory Bird Treaty) and the owner of the dog should know that and not let their dog chase them. The Mallards are probably looking for a safe nesting site. They occasionally nest in some pretty busy areas (like shopping centers).

A nice way to start the day.
