In place of the famous cherry blossoms...

The cherry blossoms are at peak bloom on the Tidal Basin, but people are being urged not to go there due to the possibility of huge crowds. Metro has closed the two stations closest to the river in an effort to keep people away, but they’ll get there somehow, I’m sure. We go every year to enjoy the glorious display but sadly have decided it’s best not to this year.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Just a side of the Old Executive Office Building, posted earlier:

I'll take a magnolia flower in place of cherry blossom every time. They've a purity of form and a their gorgeous colour is at once subtle and bold.

comparable colour, and larger petals to display it...pity we have to avoid crowds, but wisdom should prevail at this juncture..
