Taken in the far reaches of the aquatic gardens, quite a different setting from where the lotuses and water lilies grow and the ducks and geese generally congregate. Thanks to Tom Munson for identifying these as phragmites, an invasive species that is taking over wetlands.

We thought we’d see what Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens in Washington, D.C., was like in winter. Naturally all the lotuses and water lilies were gone, but we did find some birds during our walk around the extensive grounds.
Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.
