A dying breed

I wonder what can be purchased for a nickel or a dime these days! Seen in North Conway, New Hampshire, at the start of our drive through the White Mountains. I don’t know what the attraction was, but the town was packed with tourists.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

80 years, that's a long time to be in business. I remember loving to go to the 5&10 in my home town. V

I like this and the B&W version - 80 years is a long time for a business !! V

A terrific photo but maybe they mean 5 and 10 dollars now not cents!

80 years of existence! Less and less shops can pretend to be that old.

Now that brings back memories of Christmas here many years ago when the Red Jacket Inn burnt down on Christmas Eve when we were eating our evening meal there!

Great find, Helen. How fun to know there is one of these stores left. We still had some when my son was a little boy, but they are all gone now. I'd love to go inside this one!

Love it. I remember when lots of towns had those little stores. Great find and a beautiful capture, Helen.

this harkens back to a time when nickels and dimes had real value...

Wow, haven't seen a 5-10-15 in, well … a lifetime! I'd be so curious to see what they have!

What a charming vignette. I know I would love wandering through this store.

I didn't know there was a 5 and 10 cent store left on earth! Great find and well captured..
