Tim is back in Riyadh for a few days, and since I couldn’t go with him, has taken some pictures for me as I was curious to see how it now looks and what has changed.
This was taken on the Diplomatic Quarter, where we lived for three years. When we moved there, most of the women on the DQ were foreigners so rarely wore abayas, but a lot of Saudis have moved in, and now abayas seem to be commonplace there. They certainly are more decorated and colorful than they used to be – even on the Saudi women in this picture -- one of the many changes that have taken place in Saudi Arabia since we left.
