Joined at the neck

This is the other picture of the two great blue herons, taken a few seconds after Tim took one posted a few pictures back with the 80-400mm lens. Despite the great distance and severe crop, I thought my 300mm lens didn’t do too badly on this.

*****

We made our usual trek to Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens to see the lotuses and water lilies in advance of their July festival since we won’t be able to attend. I don’t know if we were too early or too late, or both, but either the lotuses were completely spent or still buds and didn’t offer much in the way of photo ops. In addition, very few water lilies were in bloom, and mainly white ones at that. There were, however, a lot of dragonflies and butterflies and a couple of birds, some of which we managed to capture. It was a pleasant afternoon despite the heat, but not quite what we were expecting!

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.
