Surprise resident

This was the first time in all our many visits here that we have seen a fish, although there are often lots of tadpoles. It was quite large, and I now understand it's a carp. It also sounded like it jumped out of the water a few minutes later.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

We made our usual trek to Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens to see the lotuses and water lilies in advance of their July festival since we won’t be able to attend. I don’t know if we were too early or too late, or both, but either the lotuses were completely spent or still buds and didn’t offer much in the way of photo ops. In addition, very few water lilies were in bloom, and mainly white ones at that. There were, however, a lot of dragonflies and butterflies and a couple of birds, some of which we managed to capture. It was a pleasant afternoon despite the heat, but not quite what we were expecting!

Neat and unusual shot - if it's a carp it may not be welcome :( V
